A couple looks

I wanted to do a holiday look and I had one in mind only it didn't come out how I wanted it to.

Initially I wanted to use red & green. Well the green against the red came out looking black so it looks like a red & black look. Which is cool. It gave me an idea for another look which I might try tomorrow. :)

This look was inspired by someone else, titled "Rainbow Eyes" I fell in love with this at first sight and I just had to try it!

I also plan on doing a few tutorials while I'm on vacation. I've actually missed it. So who knows what I'll be doing. :)

I hope everyone who comes across this blog is having a wonderful holiday season. My family was very blessed this year to still be able to provide the type of gift-giving we are use to in the midst of all thats going on in our world financially right now.

Anyway, I didn't ask for much this year as I have come to the conclusion that I have everything I've ever wanted and needed. I did receive an itunes gift card and I need some suggestions as to what I should get from itunes. So if anyone run across this and have some suggestions holla at me! I have so much music and tv shows already that I'm stumped on what I should use it for. I've decided to split it with my son since he got an ipod for Christmas. :) I'm such a good mom. :)

I can't believe there is only a couple days left in the year. Where did 2008 go!? It's been a decent year. I can't complain. Alot of good things happened this year. And I can only imagine what 2009 will bring.

I'm hoping to make some changes to this blog in '09 and really utilize it. I've really been thinking about becoming a beauty blogger. So we shall see where this goes.

Remember when I said I'd been bitten. It's full blown addiction now. I picked this up while grocery shopping earlier and this is the first time I've put it down since NOON. I think it worked for me to see the movie first, because the story wouldn't seen all that interesting to me if I hadn't. And I'm sure I'll be picking up book 2 by midweek. Now I see how all the Harry Potter fans felt. lol

I've been bitten!

We just got back from seeing Twighlight and I am in love with Edward Cullen(aside from the husband,lol). He is the sexiest dead man alive. LMAO I really don't buy into a lot of the hype surrounding book series and what not but "THIS SHYT RIGHT 'CHERE" (in my best Katt Williams voice) This movie was absolutely wonderful to me. And I have not read not a ONE of the books. But oh, guess what's on my Christmas wishlist. We chose this movie cause nothing else was playing that we wanted to see without the kid and boy am I glad we chose this movie. Now I've got to catch up before the next movie. And you know there will be another. The way this one ended, how could there not be. And I know I'm not the only one waiting on this to come out on dvd. lol

P.S. I'm on a roll, 3 post in one day. But I couldn't not post about this. Who knows, I may have another post tonight. Maybe something makeup related. lol

Wow...2 post in the same day...

We watched this DVD last night...and although it was not as funny as American Hustle or Pimp Chronicles..IT WAS STILL HILARIOUS. Katt is my favorite comic by far and it should be illegal to be that funny! Everytime I watch him I laugh myself to tears and have to rewind to hear because I laugh so hard at the previous joke. Supposedly, his last standup is on New Years in Detroit and hubby and I are surely contemplating. If you haven't watched..GO WATCH! You will not be disappointed.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours was interesting. We didn't celebrate at our house this year. Partly because we have NO floors. Let me back up. Last Sunday, my washing machine decided to overflow, damaging every square inch of carpet on my first floor. Including my bedroom and bathroom(why they put carpet in the bath is beyond me) Anyway, so we had to rip up every inch of carpet meaning my floors are bare cement until we can get new flooring. So there was no way I was inviting everyone here for dinner. Instead, we split the day up into time with my family & time with hubby's family. We were overly stuffed by the end of the night.

We had a wonderful holiday, laughing and hanging out. Vacation is feeling oh so lovely. It's back to work and school for the husband and the kid on Monday, then back to school for me on Tuesday.

Update

Wow..it's truly been a minute. A, I got your shout out to update,lol. Since I was last here, I started Cosmetology school. I've been in school since Sept. 16th. It has been interesting, some fun times and some challenging. My GPA is 96.83. My grad date has moved up from Aug. 11th to Aug 8th because I go to school every single day, and I couldn't be happier.

I had a birthday on Oct. 31 (Halloween) and it was lovely. I went to school and then ended the night at Joe's Crabshack with my family and gifts and drinks. They spoil me. And then yesterday Nov. 16th my baby and only brother turned 21 years old. He makes me feel so old. lol

I'm building my clientele at school and my freelance makeup has shot off like a rocket.

I have plenty of pics to share but I'm so tired right now, that I'm literally about to roll over and go to sleep. We are out of school Wednesday so I'll be back with pics and a post that is not so random. lol

Project 365

I've been admiring project 365 for about a year now. I didn't think I could commit to a full year of one picture a day. But tomorrow I'm about to embark on a journey that I want to somehow document. So I decided to give Project 365 a go.

This picture is the perfect start. It's almost like my emotions are written on my face. A mix of emotion actually. Tired, anxious, wondering,etc.

So we'll see how this play out. It's actually kind of fun. By the time I finish this project I will be finishing school as well. :)

Fall inspired

I'm so ready for fall it's not even funny. Seeing all the fall inspiration everywhere and watching all the fall inspired tutorials just makes me wish it was here right now. I love the colors of fall. Fall is my favorite season! I was born on Halloween, so maybe thats why I'm such a fall geek. My son is starting to see Halloween ads and whatnot so of course he's ready to shop for this years costume and my thought is "can't you still fit last year's costume.

Moving on...

I decided to do a fall look yesterday. The best part about this look..the eyeshadows came in a palette from DOLLAR TREE! This is my 2nd palette from the dollar store and I am still impressed. I didn't wear any lipcolor in these photos, but I think when I do wear this look, I'm going to try a dark lip, which is supposedly in for fall.

And I think that's all going on in my world right now. I start school next Tuesday and I'm excited about that.

Friday Funny

I was reading the newspaper a little while ago and I came across a story whose headline read:
Police looking for man in wheelchair who robbed 7-Eleven. Now, before I even started reading the story, first I had to reread the headline cause I thought I read it wrong. And when that wasn't the case I proceeded to read. I should've just stopped at the headline. Basically a man ROLLED into a 7-Eleven clutching a baseball bat and a knife. He proceeded to beat the cash register until it opened. Once opened he didn't take any money. Then he rolled around other customers and took 10 boxes of condoms and an energy drink!! Then he rolled out! I might need to spell check cause just typing this got me cracking up. Anyway, police were called but once they got there, the dude was nowhere to be found. They still have not found him but they did make sure to mention that he's probably homeless and was probably intoxicated when the incident occured. DUH! ya think. Seriously, how hard could it be to catch a dude in a wheelchair.

Whew, I needed that laugh today. lol

Fall Trends

Ok so I don't know about anybody else but I cannot wait for FALL! I was born in the fall so maybe that's why I'm such a fall baby at heart. I love to watch the leaves fall and turn colors. I love crispness in the air and the smell of pumpkin spice & cinnamon candles burning. We have been in our house for 3 YEARS now and have never used our fireplace. I have demanded that my husband prepare and get wood cause I will be using it this year.

Anyway, I picked up a copy of People Magazine Style watch and in it they have the Top 12 Beauty Trends for fall.

Let's take a look shall we...

1) Amplified Texture-
Stars like Blake Lively are waving goodbye to their flatirons this fall, ditching stick-straight locks in favor of a natural, soft texture.

Now me personally don't know about this. I'm addicted to my flat-iron. But I see how this could work. hmmmm (lol)

2) Purple Nails-

The season's most majestic hue is showing up on the talons of Hollywood royalty, including L.A. icons like Lauren Conrad.

Now I could see me doing this color. I'm no stranger to funky colors on my nails and me personally am glad to see funky colors spilling over into the fall season. Pink and white is just plain ole played out to me seeing as I've been wearing them for the last 3+ years.

3)Low Lights-

California-blonde is always in style, but this season's must-have low lights, like Ashley Tisdale's, are set to be a favorite for flattering fall skintones. Ummm, yea...NO. I'm black..I don't see blonde high or low in my near or far future. I just dyed my hair JET BLACK and I'm perfectly fine with it. Matter of fact I LOVE IT. So moving on.

4)Stained Berry Lips-
Stars like Charlize Theron show off autumn's latest trend, berry-stained lips topped with sheer gloss.

Ok, so this is a biggie for me. I'm a neutral lip girl at heart, but I'm willing to try some berries and what not. I use to wear this lipstick called Cherries Jubilee from Avon when I was in High School and I looked straight up like Elvira. So as long as I don't revisit that look, I'm game to try

5)Statement Headbands-

They're getting bigger, bolder, and brighter! January Jones and others are showing off the quick and easy way to get an always-perfect coif.

I like this one. I'm a headband girl myself. Probably because I'm too lazy to fuss with my own hair at some ungodly hour in the mornings.

6)Golden Shadow-

Rihanna sparkles in autumn's go-to shade that gives eyes a high-wattage impact – day or night.
Now Ri-Ri's eyes are always beautiful but what happened to the face. Now I have seen hundreds of beautiful pictures of Rihanna and somehow this is the only one People could get their hands on to represent the Fall "beauty" trend. Anyway, so supposedly Gold's are in for Fall. I'm not sure if I like that for ME, for fall yet. I mean I just started experimenting with color this summer so I'm not necessarily ready to revert back to neutral tones.

7)Sideswept Bangs-

While Hollywood is still loving last season's blunt bangs, stars like Jessica Biel are switching up the look with a softer, side-swept style.

Now this I can get with, it's the only I'll wear bangs anyway. lol

8)Va-va-Voom Volume-

Anne Hathaway models the season's ultimate red-carpet hair trend by channeling retro screen sirens from decades past and giving the look modern flair with volume and lush, full curls. Yeah..ok..hmm..No comment.

9)Colored Liner-

Whether you go with bright sapphire (like Hilary Duff), emerald green or vibrant violet, you can't go wrong with a pop of color around the eyes in autumn's updated richer hues. I can get with colored liner but Hil..come on now..you gotta be careful with that. This almost looks borderline skunkish to me. But I've always favored colored liners so I can definitely get hipped to this fall trend.

10)Polished Ponytail-

Worn high or low, a smooth and sleek pony like Salma Hayek's is slated to be fall's favorite updo, whether you're going for casual or ultra glam.

I could definitely get with this..if I had hair. Well you know what they say. "Fake it til you make it" now that I can do. lololol

11)Bold Brows-

While we don't expect you to jettison your tweezer for good, this season it's all about going with a more natural brow to define your face, like Eva Mendes's classic arch.hmmm, I don't know about this one. I mean I'm all for natural but she look just plain evil in this picture. hmmm I'll pass if this is what I have to look forward to.

12)Messy Up-Do-

Mary-Kate Olsen's chic, thrown-together style is the epitome of fall's relaxed boho hair.

Umm yeah..NO

It's going to be an interesting fall don'tcha think. :)

First Day of School

We started 3rd grade Tuesday and it was an interesting morning getting ready. I realized that my child is growing up and no longer finds my antics of picture taking and straightening collars very cute or manlike. lol Everything was "I'll do it myself" and "do you have to take pictures?" The one that took the cake is when I pulled my HUGE camera out in front of his little friends and classmates. Oh the look I got was hilarious. But being me true to form, I gave him that eye as if to say "boy don't play with me" LMAO and I got my picture and went on bout my business.

This is said picture and yes I cropped the head for privacy purporses. But check out the body language. He didn't want me to help him get organized and put up his school supplies. lol

This picture is from this morning, we are going into our 3rd day of 3rd grade and so far he's still happy. But dad and I both know that's because there is no homework the first week of school. He even comes home, eagerly grabs a Harry Potter book to do the 10 minutes of reading they are to do every night. But we know come middle of next week, the smiles will be non-existant and he'll be wishing summer was back. We have also handed off responsibilities that dad and I use to do for him and that he is now old enough to do for himself. One of those responsibilities is now picking out his own school clothes the night before, including shoes, socks, undershirts,etc. Making sure nothing needs ironing and making sure all school have been signed and returned to his backpack. So far, so good.
